Building effective communication skills for our future

In today's fast-paced, interconnected world, the art of listening is in decline. On social media, many people shout to be heard, share misinformation without reflection, and often seem to prefer conversations that simply reinforce their own views. Yet effective communication is crucial - not only for fostering meaningful relationships, but also for success in the workplace and promoting democracy. This shift toward superficial interaction is also affecting the classroom, where students often struggle to develop meaningful communication skills. In this session, we will explore how this can be done right from the beginning, including ways to ignite students' curiosity, foster active listening, and help them to become more empathetic and effective communicators - essential skills for their present and future success.
