English is all around us. Its increasing use in communicative situations involving speakers whose first language is not English is challening established practices in ELT. In this workshop we’ll be exploring first how ELF-research has informed the revision to the CEFR, curricula and the development of teaching materials. We'll then be examining the impact these developments have had on classroom practice, using examples from a range of coursebooks and teaching resources. Particular attention will be given to mediation and the linguistic and communicative skills it requires. Join me to discover how ELF-informed teaching can help learners become more confident and successful users of English.
