Working with – not merely using – AI should spark more thinking, not less. To this end, students need to engage with it rather than rely on ready-made answers. 
In this talk, we’ll look at classroom tasks that encourage learners to question, adapt, and personalise AI-generated language rather than simply using the tool as a shortcut. By modelling enquiry, exposing AI’s limitations, and valuing process over product, we can ensure that this technology deepens engagement instead of replacing effort. In this way, we can help students engage thoughtfully, stay curious, and remain confidently in charge of their own ideas.
