Democracy is under pressure: political discontent is rising and trust in institutions and the media is declining. The battle for our attention online and the rise of generative AI are also making it increasingly difficult to know what – and whom – we can trust. In this webinar, we will explore these challenges, including new ways the media is seeking to engage audiences. We will look at how critical thinking can help us identify misinformation and manipulation, evaluate competing claims and get closer to the truth. And, of course, there will be practical ideas and activities for the English classroom to help your students become informed citizens.
